Illuminated Arts CIC

Company Profile

Illuminated Arts CIC is a South East London community arts organisation using creativity, heritage and storytelling to bring people together. Since 2015, we have worked with community groups, schools, care homes, supported housing organisations and local partners to deliver hands-on workshops in textiles, embroidery, printmaking, drawing and community celebration. Our work focuses on unlocking personal and cultural histories through accessible creative practice, particularly with people who may be isolated, underrepresented or facing barriers to participation. Recent projects have supported older people living with memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer’s, while also creating meaningful opportunities for emerging creatives to connect their practice with local communities. Our current project, Stitching Communities Together: Historical Pockets, explores the social history of tie-on pockets through stitch, memory and contemporary fashion. In partnership with Royal Museums Greenwich and the Queen’s House community engagement team, the project will culminate in a public Pocket Parade at the Queen’s House, Greenwich, on 11 September.
