Main Duties

Please note that all volunteers undertake a four week introductory period concentrating on administrative duties, box office management and day to day maintenance. Everyone follows the same programme, regardless of background or previous experience. We use this probationary period to get to know you better and assess you before potentially specialising later in addition to the basic administrative and box office duties. While every effort is made to make our volunteer programme a valuable and rewarding experience, everyone working at the theatre is expected to perform a variety of tasks, not all of which will be glamorous.

On successful completion of a four week introductory period where you will take a hands-on role in the running of an multi-award-winning Off-West End theatre, we endeavour where possible to provide you with opportunities that directly relate to your specific theatrical interests. Please note that opportunities to progress (in addition to the continuing basic administrative and box office tasks) are dependent on successful completion of the four week introductory period , and the needs of the theatre and our productions. Opportunities to progress have included assisting directors, designers, producers, technical management, stage management, press, marketing, social media marketing and publicity, casting, and reading for our Literary Department, subject to passing our Literary Department’s Plays Test (scriptreaders for the theatre are generally selected from people who have volunteered for us first). Volunteers who show an interest and capability in taking on greater administrative responsibility may also have the opportunity to take on Assistant General Manager positions.
