The For Creative Girls Mentoring program matches women who are taking over their industries with upcoming and emerging female creatives.
In the Creative world, meeting other individuals who have made significant progress in their lives and with their Art and Work is invaluable. It creates a paradigm shift as the young and inexperienced creative is exposed to resources, guides, angles, and dreams that are achievable.
For Creative Girls’ 2-month mentorship program for Emerging Female Creatives helps upcoming artists and creative women get the guidance, help, and resources they need to accelerate their growth in their chosen fields by matching them with super-talented women & sheroes already established in their careers.
Some of the Mentors include renowned multi-media artist, Yadichinma Ukoha-Kalu. Super-talented Visual Artist, Renike Olusanya, international creative directors, illustrators, and writers like Erin Aniker, Gretchen Mayer, Yumiko Sakuma, Haneefah Adam.
Main Duties
- Actively participate in scheduled mentorship sessions and program activities.
- Come prepared for meetings with questions, updates, and a willingness to learn.
- Work on agreed creative or professional development goals during the mentorship period.
- Communicate openly with mentors and program coordinators, including sharing progress or challenges.
- Respect the mentor’s time and commit to the program timeline and expectations.
- Apply feedback and insights from mentors to strengthen their creative practice and career growth.
What will the volunteering role offer the student and what will they learn while they are with you?
Mentorship includes workshops, feedback sessions, and online resources.
1. One-on-One Mentorship
Mentees are paired with an experienced creative professional in their field (design, writing, marketing, illustration, photography, filmmaking, etc.). Mentors provide guidance, feedback, and industry insights over the course of a few months.
2. Career & Portfolio Reviews
Mentees receive constructive feedback on their work, portfolio, or projects to help refine their skills and professional presentation.
3. Networking Opportunities
Access to a community of fellow creatives, past mentees, and mentors, which can lead to collaborations, job opportunities, and lasting professional connections.
4. Industry Insights & Practical Advice
Mentors share real-world experiences, helping mentees navigate challenges, find new opportunities, and develop strategies for career growth.
5. Personal Branding & Storytelling Guidance
Help with positioning themselves in the creative industry, crafting a compelling personal brand, and showcasing their work effectively.
6. Skill Development & Masterclasses
Depending on the skill, mentees receive skill-based training, industry tips, and access to learning materials that the Mentors used in their growth in Design, Illustration, Communication, & Advertising.
7. Confidence & Accountability
Having a mentor provides mentees with a support system that keeps them motivated, accountable, and confident in their creative journey.
