Main Duties
- Operating laser cutters to produce work to the client’s specification.
- Packaging projects for transit and handling with care.
- Discussing projects between the workshop team and clients to come up with the best
- solution, and suggest alternative approaches.
- Communicating with workshop managers and front of house team, advising on project
- progress and material stock.
- Organising workflow.
- Painting, sanding, and providing high finishes to projects.
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous creative work experience in a similar role and industry practice is crucial.
- Knowledge of different materials, their properties, and processes.
- Ability to multi-task and be time-efficient. Technicians are expected to run multiple jobs
- at once or perform housekeeping duties.
- Experience delivering projects within deadlines, and ability to work at a pace.
- Evidence of problem solving.
- Confidence to work on bespoke projects and handling high-value items. Technicians will
- be expected to speak directly with clients if there are any issues.
- Strong organisational skills to manage several simultaneous projects.
- Adobe Illustrator at intermediate level is essential, and candidates must be able to use
- the software at speed. If applicants are successful in proceeding to a trial day, we will ask to see evidence of the following skills- compound path tools/ deleting double lines/ altering line stroke/ using alignment tools/ pathfinder tools/ image tracing tools/ expand tools/ selecting similar objects/ anchor point selection/ creating outlines/ keyboard shortcuts.
- Knowledge of other Adobe software or 3D CAD is desirable.
- Working at a pace is essential.
- Previous entry-level independent CNC machining experience is desirable but not required.
