Role: Press Assistant.
We’re recruiting for a creative, fast-thinking and solutions-focused all-rounder looking to launch themselves into cultural communications, in a dynamic agency. This is an ideal entry level job and will include training and mentoring from an experienced senior team who have worked with leading cultural and creative brands.
The successful candidate will report to an Account Manager.
Responsibilities: You will be responsible for supporting the Scott & Co (SCO) team with administrative, press and other company tasks in order to service our client and company needs with precision, efficiency and professionalism. This includes, but may evolve with time:
Ad-hoc company administrative tasks, like monitoring SCO email inbox.
Participate in SCO Social Media strategy, with regular content production and ideas for accounts - Mailchimp, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter - and website.
Administrative support with SCO media databases and key documents, including updating the database when we receive new contacts and post internal marketing campaigns (newsletter, Christmas card).
Recording and administration of editorial progress across clients, to ensure efficient and organised working practices, with a view to inputting each month into end of month activity status reports.
Searching and monitoring media, formatting, sharing and evaluation of published editorial secured for clients. This forms an essential part of the agency’s communication with its clients, reporting and evaluation service.
Where relevant, support on client events including invitation management, liaison with photographers, press release media mailings and on-site assistance.
Desired Experience and Skills
Enthusiasm: You will have an interest and basic awareness of cultural communications, as well as broader lifestyle sectors, both in London and internationally. You will be eager to learn and immerse yourself in a broad range of creative sectors - across both clients and media - including, but not limited to art, architecture, design, hospitality and travel.
Time management and thriving in a fast paced environment: You will often be working to tight media deadlines, as well as supporting the fast paced projects of your colleagues and clients, so you will be expected to work quickly and manage your time efficiently, without compromising on quality.
Excellent telephone manner: You will spend time fielding calls and pitching stories to journalists, so you will have the confidence to pick up the phone and speak to them and maintain an upbeat and friendly manner.
Copywriting skills: You will have an eagle eye for clear and correct text: spelling, grammar and proof-reading, as well as have a creative flair for producing engaging copy.
Presentation skills: From communicating ideas to your team to presenting stories to journalists, you will organise information in a succinct and interesting way to capture their attention.
Strong interpersonal skills: Whether it’s over the phone, by email or in person, PR is all about people, so you will be approachable, friendly and empathetic, and be able to relate to people on different levels within the agency, with clients and with the media.
