Assistant Producer - Research and Development (R&D) Studio
Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, the Banqueting House, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle & Gardens in Northern Ireland. We aim to help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.
This is an exciting new opportunity to work with the Head of the Research and Development (R&D) Studio to facilitate a programme of artist, creative and digital residencies - and other R&D activities. The Studio’s purpose is to develop new ideas and concepts for audience engagement, taking inspiration from innovations across art forms and technologies.
Whilst much of the role provides the opportunity to be creative, you will also be required to manage the day-to-day operation of the studio – making practical arrangements for studio projects, as well as processing payments and controlling budgets.
Skills and Experience
You will need strong organisational skills and the ability to self-manage and work independently. A passion for and appreciation of the arts and cultural sector are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
With demonstrable experience of supporting the delivery of performance, installation or immersive technology-based experiences and events, you will have knowledge of R&D techniques such as prototyping, ‘scratch’ performances and audience testing, as well as a track record of supporting artists to create great work.
