Main Duties
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Your core focus:
Sell at trade shows or craft events
- Engage visitors, demonstrate products, explain techniques, handle sales
- Test products with real customers and gather feedback during launch phase
- Set up displays, manage inventory, represent the brand independently
- Create an inviting event and show experience that draws people in
Run silk embroidery workshops
- Teach beginners silk shading techniques at partner venues (museums, galleries and institutions)
- Demonstrate stitching methods, guide participants through their first double-sided embroidery
- Manage workshop materials, troubleshoot problems, create a supportive learning environment
- Deliver sessions that feel special—not generic craft classes
Support the business as it grows:
- Help with partnership communications
- Create behind-the-scenes content for social media from markets and workshops
- Manage customer bookings and communications
- Assist with event logistics and general startup operations
- Be proactive at contributing ideas—at this stage, good suggestions actually get implemented
Skills and Experience Required
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Essential:
- Confident engaging strangers and explaining value (you can sell without feeling pushy)
- Teaching or facilitation experience (tutoring, leading workshops, explaining techniques clearly)
- Genuine interest in hand embroidery or textile craft (this should excite you, not just pay you)
- Comfortable presenting to groups and working independently at events
- Organised and self-starting
Highly valued:
- Hand embroidery knowledge (British goldwork, Chinese silk shading, crewel, Japanese techniques—any style)
- Craft market, trade show, or retail experience
- Workshop delivery or teaching background
- Social media content creation skills (filming process videos, behind-the-scenes)
- Customer service or e-commerce experience in premium or cultural settings
