About Us
We are a leading furniture and prop hire company based in London (NW10). We supply high-quality furniture, lighting, artwork and decorative items to the film, TV, advertising and events industries. Our collection includes modern and contemporary designs, mid-20th century items, as well as characterful vintage pieces. We pride ourselves on offering unique, stylish, original pieces – every item tells a story.
Due to the nature of our business, items are frequently used on set and at events and returned with varying levels of wear and tear. We are looking for a skilled woodworker/repairer who has a wide range of knowledge to competently restore and fix furniture from all eras, and take charge of both quick aesthetic repairs and longer restoration projects.
The type of candidate we are looking for might not necessarily come from a restoring background. Examples of transferable experience include, but are not limited to, furniture making, set building, studio/workshop technician, and artists’ assistants. Ultimately, we are looking for a really practically-minded repairs expert who has an eye for detail, design, and strong intuition for aesthetics.
The Role
You will be responsible for executing a variety of restoration and repair tasks. The items to be repaired will come either from a curated list prepared by the stock and repairs team or as last-minute fixes for items due to be dispatched urgently. You will need to prioritise effectively, plan repair times accordingly, and provide info to colleagues in the stock and repairs department.
We require a candidate who is confident in a variety of finishing techniques for wood whilst being open minded to experiment and not necessarily do things traditionally.
The varied nature of the collection will require a multi-skilled individual (wood, stone, painting, textiles and more); a creative problem-solver who is highly confident with their techniques and will develop a deep understanding of Granger Hertzog’s brand and aesthetic.
