Main Duties

Collaborate with the founder on the creative direction and design development of 2–4 contemporary womenswear silhouettes, adapted from traditional sari’s.

Produce initial design sketches and concept development, based on a creative brief and moodboard provided.

Translate designs into technical patterns (digital or paper) suitable for small-scale production.

Develop one prototype/sample per design, working with sari fabric and/or other test materials.

Provide creative input on silhouette, trims, fit and finish while respecting textile placement, embroidery, and cultural context.

Document process and outcomes (photo/video) to support project storytelling

  • 2–4 designs developed
  • 1 sample garment per design
  • 1 digital or paper pattern per design

 

Skills and Experience Required

Recent graduate or early-career Fashion Designer / Pattern Cutter (BA or MA level).

Confident in pattern cutting, draping, and garment construction for womenswear.

Designers must have access to their own sewing machine.

Interest or experience in sustainable fashion, upcycling, or heritage-inspired design.

Ability to work collaboratively and interpret creative briefs with sensitivity and innovation.

Comfortable working with delicate fabrics (silk, embroidered textiles) and mindful of placement and preservation.

Strong attention to detail, finishing, and proportion.

Good communication and time management — able to meet milestones independently.

(Optional) Experience with CLO 3D or Gerber/Illustrator for digital pattern creation.
