Summer Activity Leader

Salary £12 per hour (set to increase in line with National Living Wage in April)

Main Duties

Position Details:

– Part-time

– Flexible hours, 7 days a week

– Typically 10-25 hours per week

– Summer contract starting in June 2026 (with potential to start as early as April/May)

Ideal candidate:
– Friendly, passionate and knowledgeable.
– Able to converse with a range of people (including 16 year olds and over 50s)
– Able to lead large groups.

We are looking for someone who is interested in delivering their own tours of London and other cities in the wider UK (Oxford, Cambridge, Brighton, etc.), who will also be able to assist in the running of our London-based activities and events, which can range from trips to the London Eye, to Welcome parties for 200+ students, to movie nights in-school.

Must have good availability to work each week, including evenings and weekends.

Activity Leaders support the Activities and Events Manager in organising and delivering a wide range of activities, excursions and events for our student body. You will be leading mixed-age student groups, from 16 years old to 70 years old, so being a people-person is a must!

We are looking for candidates with a love for London and its history, who can add value to our Walking Tours in London and our Day Trips outside of London. This role is on a part time basis with up to 30 hours per week. Future opportunities for permanent employment available. Interviews are offered on a rolling basis.

Responsibilities

  • Leads groups of international students on a variety of activities and day trips
  • Confident designing and running their own walking tours of London and other cities in the UK.
  • Creates a lively atmosphere during excursions, delivering excellent customer service
  • Takes responsibility for health and safety of all students including completing and adhering to risk assessments and emergency situations in line with EF policy and procedures
  • Research excursion destinations, leads a guided tour at the destination and gives interesting information and facts to students
  • Liaises with co-leaders and the Activities and Events Manager to discuss how to improve future activities and gives a thorough handover after each activity or event to aid future planning
  • Attends and assists the Activities and Events Manager with large events
  • Ensures the EF behaviour code is followed by all students at all times and informs the management immediately if there are any issues or problems

  • Confident in leading and managing groups of students
  • Highly organised and thorough, able to use initiative and work unsupervised
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with ease and remain calm under pressure
  • Customer service minded and quality oriented
  • Awareness and appreciation of cultural differences.
  • Excellent communicator both with students, colleagues, and external clients
  • A flexible approach to work and hours of work undertaken is essential
