Main Duties

ArtULTRA is an online platform that supports emerging artists, with the aim to create a more diverse and vibrant art world. We regularly feature emerging artists from a variety of horizons, working across diverse media. Additionally, we manage a smaller group of more established artists, sell art through our platform and work with businesses and clients on artistic projects. ArtULTRA is also providing curatorial services and organises exhibitions as well as discussions with artists and collectors.

We are seeking a Social Media & Editorial Assistant to support ArtULTRA’s founder and small team. The role focuses on creating and planning engaging content for social media, drafting copy for the newsletter and website, and providing editorial and administrative support. Additional opportunities may include helping with installations, open studios, and bespoke events as well as providing editorial support with blog posts and other types of writing.

This role will suit someone studying or who recently graduated from an arts or creative degree and would like to pursue a career in the arts and the cultural sector.  You will enjoy working flexibly and efficiently. The position requires great computer literacy skills, some experience with social media management, a strong command of the English language and a good eye for detail. Most of the work is done remotely, with occasional in-person or online meetings. Access to a good laptop is essential. There are no set hours, but the role roughly demands up to one day of work per week, which can flex based on work plans.

What you’ll do

  • Create and plan engaging social media content (Instagram, website, LinkedIn, using Canva and PlannThat)
  • Write and edit copy for social media, website and newsletter
  • Generate creative ideas for digital content across all platforms
  • Proof-read and copy-edit documents as required such as interviews, website copy, and blog posts
  • Provide ad-hoc support for ArtULTRA events such as open studios, exhibitions, talks
  • Regularly edit and upload content on the website, making sure everything is up to date
  • Researching contacts, organisations, businesses, art events etc. for different ArtULTRA projects as the need arises, collating information in an easy-to-digest formats (e.g. Excel spreadsheet, PowerPoint, dependent on the project)

Skills and Experience Required

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • a demonstrated interest in the arts, particularly supporting and working with emerging artists
  • excellent computer literacy skills
  • ability to work confidently on Google Drive
  • experience of managing Instagram and social media
  • strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail

Desirable but not essential

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the emerging art scene
  • Familiarity with website content editors (knowledge of Wix Website Editor is an added bonus)
  • Photography and / or graphic design skills
  • Experience with Canva for social media and/or other image editing software (like Adobe)
  • Experience writing copy for social media
  • Knowledge of Mailchimp or other newsletter tools (again this can be learned on the job)
