Main Duties
MOTH is pioneering the next era of media, powered by quantum computing.
Every era of media is shaped by its defining technology – from broadcast to digital, from social to AI. Each shift hasn’t just changed distribution; it has rewritten the mechanics of how stories are created, processed, experienced and remembered.
Quantum is next and Moth is building that next leap.
At the heart of this transformation is Moth Studios – innovating through creative R&D, media production, creative collaborations, community activation and by engaging with contemporary cultural thinking and practices.
Now we’re looking for a Product Designer to help define how our core quantum technologies are experienced and interacted with.
You will shape product experiences that are intuitive, technically grounded and creatively powerful. This is a hands-on role that bridges the gap between design and development. You will define the visual language and user experience of MOTH’s core quantum technologies not just how they look, but how they function. You’ll work across interfaces, workflows and front-end prototypes, ensuring what you design holds up inside real systems and real constraints.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Define product experiences at the core of our technology: Work alongside Engineering, Research and Experience Design to define the visual language and user experience of MOTH’s core quantum technologies. Design interfaces and workflows that make complex systems coherent and navigable.
- Lead research and iteration: Conduct user interviews and usability testing with artists, creators and technical users. Synthesize insights into actionable product decisions and iterate quickly based on real feedback.
- Bridge design and development: Move fluidly between design files and front-end code. Build interactive prototypes in HTML, CSS and JavaScript to validate interaction patterns and reduce ambiguity before engineering handover.
- Translate complexity into structure: Turn abstract quantum processes into clear user flows, interaction models and feature requirements. Ensure complexity is handled in the system, not pushed onto the user.
- Build and evolve our design system: Maintain and extend a coherent design library across internal tools, demos and experimental applications. Ensure consistency across interfaces while allowing flexibility for exploration.
Skills and Experience Required
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Middleweight-level working in Product Design, UI/UX, or a hybrid design–engineering role. We care less about tenure and more about demonstrated depth and execution.
- Strong interface design fundamentals: A portfolio that shows clean, structured UI work with clear interaction logic and systems thinking — not just visual polish, but thoughtful workflows and product decisions.
- Practical user research experience: You’ve conducted interviews, usability testing and synthesis work. You know how to turn research into user flows, feature requirements and measurable product improvements.
- Code agility: You are confident working in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You can edit front-end code, build interactive prototypes and validate interaction patterns before they move into production.
- Systems awareness: You understand how interfaces connect to APIs, data structures and technical constraints and you design with those realities in mind.
