Mid‑weight Brand, UX & Web Designer

Salary Freelance day rate: £150–£300 per day (depending on experience).
Hours This is freelance - hours will vary depending on variety of work we have in.

Main Duties

  • Translate an approved brand and content plan into a clear site map, user flows and IA for a new responsive website.
  • Create low‑ to high‑fidelity wireframes and page templates for key journeys (homepage, product/service, story/content, resources, contact, forms).
  • Design a modular UI system (components, tokens, grid, typography, colour, states) that scales across breakpoints.
  • Build clickable Figma prototypes and annotate behaviour (hover, focus, validation, motion).
  • Collaborate with a creative director, strategist and writer to refine content hierarchy and messaging.
  • Prepare dev‑ready handover (component specs, redlines, exportables) and support QA through build.

Skills and Experience Required

  • A strong portfolio of shipped, responsive websites showing clear UX rationale and crisp UI craft.
  • Advanced Figma (components/variants, auto‑layout, styles, tokens, prototyping, dev mode).
  • Confident with information architecture, content hierarchy, and pattern libraries/design systems.
  • Practical understanding of HTML/CSS behaviour and constraints; comfortable collaborating with developers.
  • Accessibility fluency (WCAG 2.2 AA: contrast, focus, forms, keyboard, errors, motion sensitivity).
  • Solid grasp of typography for the web, layout, and performance‑minded imagery.
  • Comfortable running quick usability checks and translating findings into clear design decisions.
  • Documentation & handover skills (annotations, redlines, specs) and tidy file hygiene.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; constructive, low‑ego collaboration.
  • Nice‑to‑haves: Webflow/Framer, basic GSAP/micro‑interactions, SEO fundamentals, analytics/event planning.
