Main Duties

We’re a London-based team with over 30 years of experience in television and broadcast across the UK and US. We’re now bringing that creative and production expertise into the digital and e-commerce space.

Histromax is a newly launched social media platform producing short- and long-form history videos for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Building on this, Histromax Adventures is launching soon as a dedicated extension for younger audiences, aimed at children aged 8–14.

Objective

Alongside our video content, we are developing a series of history-themed jigsaw puzzles for children aged 8–14. These puzzles will be fun and engaging in their own right, while also acting as educational tools—bringing different historical periods and cultures to life by illustrating everyday experiences, such as life in Ancient Rome or Ancient Egypt.

Our mission is to make history exciting and accessible for kids through vibrant storytelling, animation, and beautifully designed content. We’re looking for an illustrator who can create cohesive, character-driven visuals that bring key historical moments and figures to life in a way that’s fun, age-appropriate, and visually captivating. We’re open to a range of artistic approaches, including more traditional illustration styles.

You’ll be creating:

• Illustrated designs for children’s history-themed jigsaw puzzles
• An initial mock-up based on a creative brief
• A potential first project of up to five puzzles
• Opportunities for future work across additional merchandise and product designs

Skills and Experience Required

We’re looking for:

• A playful, expressive illustration style suitable for children aged 6–12
• The ability to collaborate closely with a small, creative team
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop (experience with After Effects or animation is a bonus, but not essential)
• A genuine interest in, or knowledge of, history is a plus

Please note that we will be offering a day rate for an initial mock-up or concept design based on a creative brief, which we’ll share separately. If your concept is a strong fit, we’ll then discuss a flat project fee and potential opportunities for ongoing and future work.
