Disability Arts Online is looking for a Heritage Project Coordinator to support its landmark project, ‘Cripping Culture: a Journey into Disability Arts Heritage’.

  • Pay: £12,800 per year (£32,000 is the full time rate per year)
  • Hours: 14 hours per week
  • Location: Work from home and weekly sessions in person in Brighton & Hove.
  • Reports to: Heritage Project Director
  • Fixed-term Contract: Ends 31 March 2028

This is a fantastic opportunity to help share the story of the Disability Arts movement and preserve our shared heritage for future generations. This role will support the Heritage Project Director in the successful delivery of the 3-year project, funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund, in tandem with our London-focussed heritage work that is resourced through Trust for London’s Disability Justice Fund.

Cripping Culture: a Journey into Disability Arts Heritage will research and reveal the achievements of the disabled artists and activists who put disability rights on the map from the late 1970s onwards. *Cripping, like queering, uses a reclaimed word to apply a disability lens to culture.

The Heritage Project Coordinator will support the Heritage Project Director in overseeing the management of Cripping Culture to ensure the project’s success. Part-funded by the Access to Work scheme, a key part of the role is to meet the administrative access support requirements of the Heritage Project Director.

Tasks include:

  • Supporting the Heritage Project Director to maintain a Project overview.
  • Supporting communications with allies, partners (including web developers), volunteers and key stakeholders.
  • Carrying out research for the project.
  • Supporting the set-up of oral history interviews and group Zoom meetings.
  • Supporting the development of a multimedia contextual timeline resource.
  • Contributing to the creation of accessible outputs for people with a range of access requirements.
  • Providing administrative support in reporting to funders.
  • Providing administrative support to ensure the correct filing of community contributions.
  • Supporting the communications strategy and promoting the project, building audiences.
  • Supporting the administrative aspects of commissioning freelance contributors.
