Head of Learning and Schools

Salary £38,000-45,000 per annum
Hours Full time, 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday, 2 year contract

Main Duties

Key Responsibilities

Time Odyssey

  • Partnership and key stakeholder relationship management, specifically partner museums
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the programme
  • Review and manage evaluation procedures and reports
  • Lead the relationship development and on-boarding of new partners
  • Manage and monitor the Programme budget
  • Oversee school transport grant applications
  • Oversee all production, delivery and distribution of programme assets
  • Lead relationship with digital developer
  • Oversee website and app updates
  • Lead on comms and marketing strategy for the programme
  • Manage national or London events for the programme
  • Line manage Programme Administrator
  • Train and line manage support staff, including freelance facilitators, volunteers and work placements

 

Learning Programmes – general

  • Develop Learning Strategy for Art Explora UK
  • Lead on any new strategic initiatives in the field of learning and schools
  • Support the strategic development of all learning programmes for Art Explora UK such as the Mobile Museum and the Art Explora Festival
  • Lead on evaluation for schools and learning programmes for Art Explora UK

 

General

  • Reporting at weekly team meetings and to Trustees, as required
  • Financial and written reports for Trustees
  • Supporting strategic planning, reporting and data collection for UK team
  • Regular coordination with UK team
  • Coordination and collaboration with French public programme team

Skills and Experience Required

Essential Qualifications and Experience 

  • Substantial professional experience of museum or arts learning programmes in the UK at upper management level
  • Experience of managing a programme with complex range of national stakeholders and partners
  • Working with or in schools
  • Extensive project and budget management experience
  • Experience of designing and leading evaluation programmes for creative engagement and learning programmes
  • Knowledge of education and cultural policy, and cultural engagement landscape
  • Strong networks in the arts learning and engagement field in the UK
  • Post-graduate Art History or Museums qualification or arts and museums related work experience
  • Commitment to inclusion, access to the arts for children and young people

Desirable 

  • Experience of managing grant programmes
  • Experience of fundraising from public sector, trusts and foundations, or corporates and individuals

  • A confident speaker and communicator
  • Ability to take initiative and think creatively
  • Ability to lead team members and inspire confidence in partners
  • Strong writing and editing skills, a keen eye for detail
