Hand weaving in studio
Salary
Payment per metre woven. The rate is calculated according to typical production speeds for experienced handloom weavers and is intended to meet or exceed the UK National Minimum Wage when work is performed at a competent professional pace.
Hours
Freelance assignments depending on production needs. Studio-based work in Stratford, East London. Working days and hours agreed per assignment.

Main Duties
- Weaving fabrics on a production jack handloom with treadles (125 cm fabric width, non-computerised), following detailed technical instructions
- Maintaining consistent rhythm and accuracy during weaving
- Following fabric specifications and production notes
- Preparing bobbins and repairing broken warp ends during weaving
Skills and Experience Required
- Experience with production jack handloom weaving with treadles (not computerised)
- Good understanding of yarn behaviour, tension, and textile structure
- High level of patience and attention to detail
- Ability to follow technical instructions precisely
- Respect for slow craft processes and careful material handling
