Main Duties

Tiwani Contemporary is seeking a highly organised, motivated and detail-oriented Gallery Assistant to join its London team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic commercial gallery, working across exhibitions, sales, administration and communications.

The role offers broad exposure to the day-to-day operations of an international gallery, including artist liaison, art fairs and client engagement. You will work closely with a collaborative team and gain insight into the processes that support a global programme of exhibitions and events.

This role is ideal for someone enthusiastic, organised and eager to learn, who is looking to build a career in the contemporary art world.

Key responsibilities

  • Acting as front of house: welcoming visitors and presenting exhibitions in a professional and engaging manner
  • Supporting the delivery of exhibitions, events (including private views, talks and dinners) and art fair preparation
  • Assisting with the preparation of sales materials and database management (Artlogic)
  • Coordinating administrative tasks, including maintaining artist documentation and supporting travel arrangements
  • Maintaining the presentation and smooth day-to-day running of the gallery and office spaces to a high professional standard
  • Supporting website updates, press coordination and social media activity

Skills and Experience Required

Candidate profile

  • Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident in a client-facing environment
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
  • Proactive, adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks
  • A genuine interest in contemporary art and the commercial gallery sector

Desirable skills

  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and/or Photoshop
  • Basic image editing skills
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading abilities
  • Interest in contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora
