Main Duties

Tutoring with Big Fish Tutors gives you the opportunity to…

– work for a company which provides a leading standard in education for out of school settings

– improve your communication through building meaningful relationships with students, parents and other inspiring tutors

– deliver lessons that change mindset and attitude in children’s learning so that you can make the difference you really set out to make

– become a leader in delivering the National Curriculum standard in key English and Maths skills

Tutors are required to…

– deliver active lessons using a whiteboard in a classroom setting (materials, lesson plans and worksheets are available for group and one-to-one lessons)

– mark homework

– provide feedback to parents about their children’s progress

– inspire children through positive criticism

Skills and Experience Required

The ideal applicant will be…

– confident, enthusiastic, approachable, a good communicator who works well with other leaders

– someone who takes initiative

– good at multitasking

– able to work under pressure and towards set deadlines

– someone who is punctual and reliable

– preferably but not necessarily well-versed in the National Curriculum and experienced in working with or teaching children

– UK GCSEs with minimum B or 6 grade for English and Maths mandatory. Minimum A or 7 grade for Science if teaching Science.

DBS certificate required, it must meet the following criteria:

– Less than 2 years old;
– Include child barred list;
– Position applied for must be within the child workforce sector
(Note: If it doesn’t meet the criteria then Big Fish Tutors will need to apply for a new DBS on the candidate’s behalf, which the candidate is required to pay for)
