As part of our anniversary events, we are looking for a passionate Assistant Set Designer who is eager to work with young people and bring our productions – ‘Diamonds’ to life through engaging and imaginative set designs and construction. ‘Diamonds’ is a triple bill of interlocking plays written by Richard Vincent. ‘The Ogre and the Fairy Things’ is performed by our members aged 6-11yrs, ‘The Lost Boy’ is performed by our 12-19yrs cohorts, who are joined by two past members. ‘The Lost Man’ is performed by a combination of past members and current members aged 12-19yrs.

Job Description: We are looking for an Assistant Set Designer able to help bring the world of ‘Diamonds’to life. The Assistant will be responsible in assisting all aspects of designing and building/managing the build of the set for the shows, as well as assisting in facilitating CYTO’s Crew sessions. Crew is a group for 12-19 year olds developing their skills in all things production. We explore lighting, sound, stage management, set and costume while offering hands on experience in CYTO productions. Assistant Set Designer will be supporting CREW to develop a creative voice in theatre design and benefit from a professional experience.

We aim for this to be a transition period between designers as our current Designer, Henry Fong returns to Macau in October.

Payment: The fee for this initial project is £1000. If it’s a successful fit and the candidate would like to continue developing their relationship with us, they would take over as resident designer. The Designer is paid £70 per Crew session (2 hours, once a week during term time) additionally £400-£600 per production depending on design requirements and budget.
