Applications for our 2024 Careers Fair are now open. UAL has over 23,000 creative students on the cutting edge of cultural life in London. They are seeking a variety of flexible work whilst they study or alongside their creative practice, as well as internships, and permanent and graduate-level roles after they finish. Our careers fair is open to students and graduates from UAL’s 6 renowned Colleges studying art, design, fashion, communications, media and performance subjects.

As another academic year wraps up, many of you are ready to step into the world beyond university. This moment is filled with a mix of emotions: saying goodbye to friends, pondering your next steps, and embracing the excitement of new beginnings. So, what now? If you’re ever in need of inspiration, look no further than our incredible alumni and their remarkable journeys—and a bit of advice from us! 

Dila Myrianthopoulos 

Discover the inspiring story of Dila Myrianthopoulos, one of the founders of Baron Venus, a contemporary homeware brand creating functional yet poetic children’s tableware. Dila, a 2007 graduate of Central Saint Martins in Art, Design and Environment, has taken her passion to new heights. Last year, Dila and Baron Venus were featured at Top Drawer, the UK’s premier trade show. Their innovative designs have even led to invitations to prestigious events in Germany and Milan Design Week in Italy. Baron Venus has been celebrated in top magazines like Elle Decor, Tatler, and Milk Magazine!

Jesse Darling 

Jesse Darling, a 2010 graduate of Central Saint Martins’ BA Fine Art: Sculpture program, has made waves by winning the 2023 Turner Prize! This £25,000 award was presented at a star-studded ceremony by Tinie Tempah. Jesse was nominated for their powerful solo exhibitions “No Medals, No Ribbons” at Modern Art Oxford and “Enclosures” at Camden Art Centre. With a practice that spans sculpture, installation, text, and drawing, Jesse’s work continues to captivate and inspire.

Aysha Awwad 

Aysha Awwad, an alumna who studied at both Camberwell College of Arts and London College of Communication, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2024! Her enchanting illustrations for “Whose Dog Is This?” by Andrew Sanders have garnered acclaim. After working in a media agency, Aysha now thrives as a freelance illustrator, working on diverse projects.

Joanne Coates 

Joanne Coates, a BA Photography graduate from London College of Communication, is a visual artist capturing the essence of rurality and hidden histories. Joanne’s powerful work, “Middle of Somewhere,” won her the Baltic Vasseur Artist Award, which includes an exhibition at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead. Her art challenges us to see beyond surface stories and question who is overlooked in society.

Lisa Gilby 

Lisa Gilby, a passionate photographer who discovered her love for the craft at London College of Communication, has built two successful businesses. Freshest Frames specialises in headshots and dance photography, while Self Made and Seen focuses on personal branding for small business owners. Lisa’s work combines her expertise in branding with her photography skills to help others shine.

Siân Dorman 

Siân Dorman, a graduate from both London College of Fashion and Chelsea College of Arts, is the innovative founder of PLASTIQUE by Siân. Her vibrant, handmade jewellery and artwork are crafted entirely from single-use waste plastic, making a bold statement against disposability and promoting environmental responsibility.

Anu Raina 

Anu Raina, a Womenswear graduate from London College of Fashion, has created a successful eponymous label focused on original prints and slow fashion. After moving to Canada and raising her children, Anu returned to school and launched her label in 2010. Her pieces, inspired by personal journeys, are crafted in small batches and loved by a loyal customer base.

Martin Gooch 

Martin Gooch, an MA Screenwriting graduate from London College of Communication, has travelled the globe and met fascinating people, from royalty to celebrities. He shares his insights on making it as a director and the challenges that come with it. Martin’s career highlights include directing a rainy night shoot for ITV’s “Emmerdale.”
