As the academic year has come to an end, looking for work experiences to jumpstart your professional career becomes more enticing. Here is a small guide for things to keep in mind as you begin looking for opportunities and going to interviews!

What’s your story?

    • Prepare/practise your own intro
    • Include a fun fact about yourself
    • Know your worth – find your valuable skills

Have an introduction ready to go and focus on the unique experiences you have had. Identify your valuable skills and explain how you use them!

Be comfortable with Nos

    • Seeing rejections as a lesson/another step
    • Ask employer for feedback

You’re a catch too

    • Hiring managers are also human
    • You’re also interviewing them/are they are right fit for you
    • Ask lots of questions at interview, find out their company culture

Remember, YOU’RE interviewing THEM too! Find out about the company culture, their employee benefits, and career progression path. Better to know now then later if the company will treat you like you deserve. Advocate for yourself!
