Main Duties

We have recently launched our first product, see these posts: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7427421491056631808, https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7429593851939692545
and are now ready to bring it to market. We are looking for someone creative and curious, who can generate interest in a truly one-of-a-kind piece of packaging — a box based on the scutoid, a geometric shape only discovered in 2018, modelled on the cells found in human skin. The shape is its story, and we need someone who can help the world notice it. Your role will likely involve:

  • Creating engaging and imaginative content for our social media channels
  • Posting and managing content across our social media channels
  • Contacting potential customers and setting up meetings with those who show interest (we will suggest initial companies to reach out to)
  • Supporting the graphic design effort — for example, creating or adapting visual assets
  • Organising the sending of samples to interested customers
  • Supporting the business with other day-to-day tasks as and when needed

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for our very first intern here at Scutoid Design — so this is a special opportunity! We’d love to hear from you if you are enthusiastic, self-driven, and detail-oriented, with a background or strong interest in marketing and communications.

This role would suit someone studying or recently graduated in marketing, communications, business, or a creative discipline. You must have familiarity with marketing on social media platforms.

It would also be a bonus if you have:

  • Experience or confidence in graphic design
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or similar)

You will thrive here if you are comfortable rolling up your sleeves, working independently, and jumping between tasks — from crafting social content one day to reaching out to potential customers the next.

About us

Scutoid Design is a small, planet-first design studio based in Bath, working across product design, packaging, and communication design. Innovation and sustainability are at the core of everything we make.

The company grew out of one of our founders’ final degree projects at Central Saint Martins — a paper drinks bottle made from a single sheet of paper, now internationally patent pending. While that project continues to develop, we have been busy with our newest product: the Scutoid box.

Launched in February 2026, the Scutoid box is a dual-compartment box folded from a single sheet of paper, shaped after the scutoid — a geometric form only discovered in 2018, found in human skin cells. We’ve fulfilled our first order and are ready for more.

What will the internship offer the student and what will they learn while they are with you? E.g. skills they could learn/develop and experience they could gain.

This is a crucial and exciting moment for our product and its future — which means your contribution will genuinely matter. Alongside your core marketing and sales work, you may be asked to support other day-to-day business tasks as they arise — and far from being a distraction, this is one of the most valuable things we can offer. If you have ever thought about starting your own venture, this experience will give you a real, unfiltered view of what that actually lookslike.

Skills and experience you will gain:

  • Marketing in practice — crafting messaging for different audiences, communicating a product’s sustainability story clearly and persuasively.
  • Sales and outreach — understanding B2B approaches, supporting lead generation, and learning how brands and retailers are engaged and converted.
  • Market and competitor insight — conducting research that directly informs live business decisions
  • Founder-level thinking — exposure to the broader operational reality of an early-stage business: how priorities are set, problems solved, and decisions made under uncertainty.
