Main Duties

Increasing the digital inclusion of our service users is a relatively new area of work for the charity. It has predominantly come about due to the pandemic and the extensive work that we have undertaken in encouraging older people to access services using online platforms. These services have included: online exercise groups, meetings with volunteer befrienders and our virtual parties.

We have recently surveyed our service users to identify how many would like to increase their digital capability and what their current capability is. From this survey around 50% of respondents have expressed an interest in this offer.

The purpose of this role will be to take the lead on responding to this demand and taking this piece of work forward for the charity. We have been developing an implementation plan and this role will oversee the rollout of this. You will also be responsible for supporting the recruitment of a pool of digital support volunteers.

This role will also act as the main liaison point with ClearCommunityWeb who we have commissioned to provide focused tech support to our staff, volunteers and service users across the service areas we have identified in our implementation plan.

Who Would Benefit?

This opportunity offers the chance to lead our charity in implementing a digital inclusion plan for older people to improve their IT skills, which will ultimately improve their quality of life.

The candidate will have the chance to:

  • Utilise their creativity in finding innovative ways to implement the strategy
  • Develop their interpersonal skills by recruiting volunteers and working with our team
  • Be supported by our Director and gain valuable experience in the charity sector
  • Gain experience in liaising with external stakeholders
  • Be welcomed as part of a friendly, local charity
