Waterperry Opera Festival

Company Profile
Waterperry Opera Festival is a non-profit arts organisation which was founded in 2017 to offer a new model for summer opera festivals and classical music events. Based at Waterperry House and Gardens, we develop work that uses Waterperry’s varied spaces to create site-inspired opera, music and theatre events; redefining what opera is and who it can be for. Launched in 2018, our inaugural Festival consisted of a 3-day season of opera for 1,000 attendees. Since then, we have staged 32 productions for over 17,000 attendees, established a 10-day Summer Festival and 5-day Winter Festival, produced several touring productions seen across the country, introduced thousands of new audiences to opera, and collaborated with other leading Arts Festivals such as Opera Holland Park, London Handel Festival, Buxton International Festival, Oxford Festival of the Arts, Lichfield Arts Festival, and Oundle Creative. In addition to producing innovative productions and widening access to classical music, our work supports the careers of many emerging creatives (on and off stage) and gives them the platform to showcase their artistry in new and exciting ways. Our thriving Young Artist Programme provides training operatic singers, pianists and directors with the opportunity to gain experience on the stage and attend masterclasses, workshops and rehearsals alongside many of our industry professionals within the company. Our community work also includes our partnerships with local schools and the Oxfordshire Music Service as we aim to develop young peoples' exposure to musical performances and insights into careers within the Arts.
