The Deighton Family Foundation, carrying forward the philanthropic vision of The Lord and Lady Deighton, established the Vannucci Artist Residency (VAR) as a not-for-profit program to support and enrich the practice of emerging and mid-career artists and art professionals at pivotal moments in their careers. VAR aims to positively influence artistic development, foster exchange, debate, and invention, and build a network and platform for developing and realizing creative projects. The residency is run out of London, but located in Umbria, Italy. Nestled in a peaceful, beautiful setting, VAR offers residents and participating arts professionals quiet reflection, the freedom to explore new directions and materials, and the time and space to create. Its central Italian location provides easy access to many of Italy’s cultural centers and artistic treasures.
