Meanwhile Space is a pioneering social enterprise shaping the way underused spaces are reimagined for community benefit and local businesses. Since 2009, we’ve led the national development and adoption of meanwhile use— unlocking disused buildings and spaces and transforming them into creative, inclusive environments.  We partner with local communities, councils, and developers to create real social impact - revitalising neighbourhoods, fostering new businesses, and providing affordable space where it’s most needed.   Our Work  Over the last 15 years, we’ve activated over 242,000 ft² of space, supporting more than 940 different business and individuals to grow and explore new ideas.  From artists and makers to start-ups, community groups, and local entrepreneurs, our projects have included affordable workspaces, retail units and community gardens.  Some of our current projects include: 

  • Blue House Yard – a retail hub and creative workspace in Wood Green 
  • We Are Super – a vibrant mixed-use centre in Weston-super-Mare 
  • Ebury Edge – studio, retail, and event spaces in Westminster 
  • LJ Works - community work, growing and events space in Loughborough Junction 
In addition to our live sites, we provide consultancy and advisory services on placemaking strategies, town centre activation, and community capacity building — working closely with public and private sector partners to deliver projects with real social value.
