Competition Description
The Springfield Village Public Art Open Call invites participants to create public artworks for Springfield Village in Tooting Bec, London. The artworks should be informed by Tooting Bec’s character and aim to establish a cultural legacy.
This commission aims to create site-specific, budget-appropriate and meaningful permanent public artworks at Springfield Village, a new mixed-use neighbourhood in Tooting Bec, London.
The artworks must enhance local character and establish a cultural legacy. They may explore themes of mental wellbeing and the destigmatisation of mental health while reflecting on the history and future of the Springfield Village site.
There is also potential to reuse and recycle materials following demolition. The appointed artist or creative practitioner(s) must deliver an engagement process – during design or fabrication – with local stakeholders to ensure the artworks reflect local identity and embody collaborative values.
