Description

Hello! We’re London Play Design, a social enterprise that protects London’s adventure playgrounds – vital community hubs and exciting play spaces for local children.

We’re currently in the delivery phase of our projects, and we’re looking for motivated, creative, and reliable students or recent graduates to assist with taking photos and videos at our hands-on volunteering days, which run from now until September (most happen in late May, June, early July, and September). This is a crucial part of documenting our work and impact.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking lifestyle photography experience in community projects, construction, or architecture in play spaces.

Main Duties

  • Attend corporate volunteer days to take photos and videos that capture key moments (e.g. tasks in action, volunteers laughing), working from briefs provided beforehand
  • Share photos/videos in a timely manner afterwards (we’ll agree timelines together)
  • Create content that tells a story
  • Film interviews for our case study work
  • Have your photos published on our site, partner channels, and in impact reports and case studies, with full credit given

What will the volunteering role offer the student and what will they learn while they are with you?

You will:

  • get an insight into community build projects in London’s play spaces
  • hone your lifestyle photography skills
  • have your photos published in impact reports for corporate partners, on our website, and across social media
  • gain hands-on experience
  • meet new people – each volunteering day brings together LPD staff, other student volunteers, community leaders, and professionals from a range of industries
  • learn about adventure playgrounds and how vital these spaces are in communities across London
  • contribute to positive social change in the city

We will:

  • support you every step of the way – you’ll have an initial meeting with our Student Volunteering & Social Impact Coordinator and further check-ins, to ensure you get a lot out of volunteering with us
  • provide guidance on volunteer days, such as briefs on what we’d like captured
  • offer other ways to get involved depending on your interests and skills
  • connect you with other students at volunteer socials
  • provide written references for volunteers who regularly volunteer with us
