Job Description

Location: Central London (West End)

We are recruiting a student illusion artist to create hyper-real, perspective-based artwork for three outdoor installations in Central London. The concept centres on making the city appear as though it is “glitching” through large-scale visual distortions.

The Installations:

  • Phone Box Installation (Hero Piece): A red London phone box transformed using perspective distortion (melted, stretched, fractured effect). Artist to propose and design the illusion.
  • Floor Vortex (2m x 2m) – Open Forecourt Location: An anamorphic spiral creating the illusion of depth when viewed from the correct angle.
  • Floor Vortex (2m x 2m) – High-Footfall Station Area: A bold, attention-grabbing perspective illusion designed to engage commuters.

Estimated Time Commitment:

Approximately 45–60 hours total, suitable for a focused 1–2 week project depending on experience.

Skills and Experience Required

Personal Specification

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating trompe-l’oeil, anamorphic, or illusion-based work
  • Ability to design for real-world scale and precise viewing angles
  • Confident preparing high-resolution, print-ready artwork
  • Strong conceptual thinking and attention to detail

If you’re skilled in illustration, digital art, 3D design, or perspective-based drawing, we’d love to see your work. Please submit your CV, portfolio showing relevant work.Shortlisted candidates may be asked to provide a concept sketch or mock-up for the project — this is about demonstrating creative thinking and understanding of perspective, not prior large-scale installations.
