Main Duties
This contemporary British fashion brand is epitomised by beautiful embroidery and hand-drawn prints, with pieces that exude confidence and femininity with a bohemian edge.
They are looking for a full-time Production Manager to join the team in Stoke Newington, London.
The role will involve overseeing end-to-end production process, ensuring garments are manufactured efficiently, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role bridges design, sourcing, merchandising, and manufacturing teams to deliver commercially successful collections aligned with brand standards.
Production Planning & Execution:
- Develop and manage seasonal production calendars from sampling through bulk delivery.
- Coordinate with design and technical teams to ensure production feasibility.
- Monitor production timelines and proactively resolve delays or bottlenecks.
- Oversee capacity planning with factories and suppliers.
Vendor & Factory Management:
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with domestic and international manufacturers.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Conduct factory visits to assess compliance, quality standards, and production capabilities.
- Ensure all vendors adhere to ethical, sustainability, and compliance standards.
Costing & Budget Control:
- Negotiate pricing and manage cost breakdowns (materials, labour, trims, shipping).
- Ensure margins align with company targets.
- Track production budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Implement quality control processes across sampling and bulk production.
- Review pre-production samples and approve TOP (Top of Production) samples.
- Address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Supply Chain & Logistics Coordination:
- Coordinate with sourcing and logistics teams to manage raw material delivery.
- Oversee shipping timelines and delivery schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels and production output to avoid stock shortages or overproduction.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor production coordinators and assistants.
- Collaborate with design, merchandising, sales, and finance teams.
- Provide regular reporting on production status, risks, and KPIs to senior management.
Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Management, Production Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Ideally has previous entry-level industry experience in apparel production or manufacturing within a fashion brand or retailer, though potentially open to less experience if can demonstrate great awareness of the role and the retail/fashion industry
- Proven experience managing overseas and domestic suppliers.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, textiles, and production processes.
- Experience working with woven, knit, and multi-category product lines.
- Demonstrated success in cost negotiation and margin management.
- Experience implementing quality assurance systems.
- Strong knowledge of production calendars and workflow management.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for costing and production tracking.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
