Main Duties
I am looking for a Tailoring Assistant to support my work as lead cutter and maker, by taking on a variety of tasks and projects.
Production is often to tight deadlines, so speed with accuracy will be essential in the successful candidate.
The role will be on a freelance basis with a constant flow of orders for coats, jackets, waistcoats and trousers coming in, so you will never be idle!
A typical day might be making canvasing for a tweed long-coat; preparing the backs for silk waistcoats; sewing buttons; pad-stitching lapels for a velvet jacket; overlocking parts for trousers; making the components for a welted pocket.
Skills and Experience Required
Good and accurate hand-stitching is a must along with a willingness to learn new techniques or methods and an ability to work unsupervised – though I am always on hand to support you at every stage when needed.
