Freelance Creative Pattern Cutter (Hybrid)

Salary £35 – £50 per hour depending on experience

Main Duties

  • Draft accurate patterns from design briefs, technical drawings, and reference garments
  • Translate design specifications into production-ready pattern sets
  • Produce calico toiles to test garment fit, structure, and proportion
  • Attend fittings and make pattern adjustments following feedback
  • Refine patterns to ensure accuracy, balance, and construction feasibility
  • Collaborate with the designer to maintain creative vision and technical integrity
  • Prepare clearly labelled, organised pattern files suitable for sampling or production
  • Support garment development and sampling as required

    Deliverables

    • Accurate, complete pattern sets based on approved designs
    • Calico toiles that accurately reflect intended garment structure and fit
    • Pattern amendments following fit sessions
    • Production-ready pattern documentation

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Pattern Cutter in fashion, couture, or luxury garment construction
  • Strong manual pattern drafting skills (digital pattern cutting beneficial if applicable)
  • Excellent knowledge of garment construction, fit, and proportion
  • Ability to interpret design sketches and technical specifications precisely
  • Experience producing and fitting calico toiles
  • Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment
