Main Duties

Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and commercially minded part-time Retail & Gallery Assistant to be the welcoming face of Fabrica X innovation gallery and concept store.

You will be the first point of contact for visitors, creating engaging, informative experiences through confident storytelling and excellent customer service. The role combines visitor engagement, retail sales, and hands-on support for exhibitions and events, helping to turn curiosity into meaningful connections and commercial outcomes.

This role suits someone passionate about sustainability and innovation, with strong communication and selling skills, who enjoys working with diverse audiences. The role operates on a flexible shift pattern across weekdays and weekends.

Core Responsibilities

Visitor Engagement

  • Welcome visitors warmly and engage them through thoughtful, open-ended conversation.
  • Confidently present Fabrica X exhibitions, concepts, and innovations to a diverse audience, from the general public to industry professionals.
  • Respond to visitor questions clearly, accurately, and with enthusiasm, adapting your approach to different audiences.

Retail Sales & Customer Experience

  • Deliver a high-quality retail experience by sharing the story, purpose, and value behind our products.
  • Actively drive sales through confident recommendations, upselling, and cross-selling where appropriate.
  • Support day-to-day retail operations, including stock management, visual merchandising, and point-of-sale processes.
  • Contribute to achieving sales targets and identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance.
  • Assist with events, workshops, and special activations, bringing energy and adaptability to busy periods.

Team & Operational Support

  • Assist with the delivery of exhibitions, external curations, partnerships, and events as required.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and support the wider team with hands-on tasks where needed.
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-presented gallery and retail environment.

Skills and Experience Required

Ideal Candidate

  • Interest & Curiosity: A genuine interest in sustainability, innovation, and at least one of the fashion or food industries, with a strong desire to learn.
  • Strong Communicator: Comfortable engaging a wide range of visitors and building professional relationships with both the public and industry partners.
  • Flexible & Adaptable: Thrives in a fast-paced environment, able to juggle priorities and work flexibly across weekdays and weekends.
  • Team Player: Positive, proactive, and happy to support across a variety of tasks, from sales to exhibition setup.
  • Sales & Service Mindset: Previous experience in retail or hospitality, with a natural ability to deliver excellent service and identify sales opportunities.
