About Silian Gallery

Silian Gallery is a contemporary art space in London operating alongside Silian Consulting, an international art consultancy working across hospitality, cultural, and commercial projects. The gallery functions as a platform for exhibitions, artist collaborations, and creative research, supporting the development and presentation of artists whose practices engage with material, narrative, and spatial context.

The gallery plays an active role in how artists are contextualised, communicated, and introduced to wider audiences, balancing cultural rigour with practical execution. It also serves as a working environment where exhibitions, daily operations, and artist engagement intersect.

The Role

This is a full-time, on-site role based at our London gallery.

As a Gallery Assistant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the gallery space, supporting exhibitions, artist coordination, visitor engagement, and communications. This role is central to maintaining a calm, professional, and well-operated gallery environment.

You will work closely with artists, visitors, and the wider Silian team, ensuring that the gallery operates smoothly on a daily basis while supporting exhibitions from set-up through to de-installation.

– Maintain an organised, welcoming, and professional gallery environment

– Handle day-to-day administrative tasks, records, and basic documentation

– Support inventory tracking and artwork records through the gallery system

Visitor Engagement & Artwork Enquiries

– Act as front-of-house, welcoming visitors and introducing exhibitions and artworks clearly and professionally

– Engage visitors in informed and thoughtful conversations about artworks, artists, and exhibitions

– Handle artwork enquiries, including checking availability, pricing, and relevant information

– Support artwork sales processes in line with internal procedures

Artist Liaison & Exhibitions

– Liaise with artists on practical matters such as schedules, artwork delivery, installation, and exhibition logistics

– Assist with exhibition set-up and de-installation, working with artists, installers, and technicians

– Support exhibition openings and gallery events as required

Communications & Social Media

– Maintain the gallery’s social media presence across two accounts

– Plan and post content documenting exhibitions, installations, and gallery activity

– Ensure a consistent visual and editorial tone in line with internal guidance

We look forward to you contributing practical observations and ideas that help improve how the gallery operates, communicates, and presents its work.

Skills and Experience Required

Candidate must be comfortable with working five days a week onsite in our Chelsea Gallery, Monday to Friday.

– A genuine interest in contemporary art and exhibitions

– Confidence engaging with visitors and communicating about artworks in a professional gallery setting

– Comfort using digital tools, systems, and social media platforms

– Ability to manage routine administrative tasks alongside busy exhibition periods

– Willingness to assist with hands-on tasks during installations and de-installations

– Ability to work independently and take responsibility for day-to-day operations once familiar with the role
