Graphic Designer and Illustrator

Main Duties

At Mella 1809 – we are a luxury homecare products brand that is changing the way people approach caring for their homes. We do this through boundless creativity, and a customer centric approach to design and fragrance.

The Role

You will be working directly with the founder to build a cohesive brand world that is illustration heavy, building on the foundation of the existing branding. You will help develop an illustration and communication style that is uniquely ownable to the company, while having freedom to be fairly creative. We want to make sure that cleaning as an act is joyful, and that it feels whimsical and playful without being irreverent.

Responsibilities

• Create a unique illustration style that is ownable by Mella 1809
• Build out an expansive brand world based on the abovementioned illustration style;
• Ideation – bring fresh ideas to help develop branding further
• Produce visual assets (illustrations, graphic designs, social media content) for use in website and organic/paid social media
• Collaborate with the founder and related agencies to execute his brand vision
• Further develop and visual systems

Others

• You will be working closely with the founder of the business and helping execute his ideas
• Significant creative freedom to bring brand and illustrations to life
• We are looking for someone with a well rounded skill set that includes graphic design, illustration and brand world building
• Flexible in working remotely and in-office as needed in London
• We value collaboration and being challenged

Skills and Experience Required

We are looking for an all rounder, with a great skill set that includes:

• A degree in Graphic Design, Digital design or similar creative degree
• Strong proficiency in Figma and Canva
• Ability to translate abstract concepts into
• Have an interesting / unique illustration style
• Some previous experience working in small teams
• Previous experience in working in brand development, graphic design, and brand world building
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates strong aesthetic judgement
• Nice to have: motion experience

We are looking for someone with middleweight experience in the abovementioned specifications. But happy to consider entre-level candidates with strong backgrounds in the above.
