Internship Location Battersea, London

Main Duties

  • Work alongside the online manager and SEO co-ordinator to schedule content for our social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter), promoting new fabric releases, sewing community news, and existing content.
  • Create content by taking and editing photos and videos to be used across all social media platforms.
  • Engage with our social media followers, replying to questions, comments and direct messages across the three platforms.
  • Engage with our Facebook customers, and replying to questions and posts plus posting topics to engage members.
  • Analyse and report on social media engagement across our platforms, testing out new methods to grow engagement and drive pattern sales.
  • Keep up to date with developments in the sewing community and best practice policy across social media platforms.
  • Bring new content ideas for our monthly social media meetings.

What will the internship offer the student and what will they learn while they are with you? E.g. skills they could learn/develop and experience they could gain.

We are looking for a Social Media and Content Producer to create and schedule content for Fabrics Galore’s social media channels.

The ideal candidate will be someone with experience in using social media platforms including instagram, facebook, and twitter – who wants to learn how to use them within a business setting; and who has retail experience but wants to build on it in a different way.

From this role you will learn how to use a social media scheduler, work within a team and to create interesting content. You will take photos and videos under our guidance in the shop in Battersea, edit them (you will need a laptop) and schedule them to our social media. Together we will see what has worked and what hasn’t before moving on to the next week or months content. But we are always looking for new ideas on how to create content about our fabrics so any ideas will be welcome and some sewing background would be really helpful in this role.

By doing this you will learn to engage with an audience, understand our target market, how to write effective captions and how to understand the analytics.
