Online Community Strategist

Main Duties

  • Develop and execute community strategy for Rachel Khoo’s Instagram and Substack in the lead-up to her 2026 book launch.
  • Plan and manage engagement initiatives — from comment interactions and discussion threads to polls, Q&As, and reader spotlights.
  • Collaborate with Rachel and her video editor to align community content with visual storytelling and campaign moments.
  • Identify and recommend potential UK and Australian collaborators (content creators, writers, podcasters, or small brands) who fit Rachel’s tone and values.
  • Track and report on engagement metrics, drawing insights to refine strategy and identify what’s resonating.
  • Draft and edit community-facing copy (captions, replies, newsletter prompts, comment responses) in on brand tone of voice.
  • Proactively spot opportunities for meaningful audience interaction — from seasonal themes to reader-led content.
  • Work creatively within constraints (RK’s limited time and resources), finding efficient, high-impact ways to keep the community engaged.
  • Stay up to date with trends in digital storytelling, food, and lifestyle content across the UK and Australia.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience in community management, audience development, or social strategy within the food, lifestyle, or creative industries.
  • Demonstrated success in growing and engaging online communities — ideally across Instagram and newsletters/Substack.
  • Deep understanding of UK and Australian audiences — tone, trends, and cultural nuances.
  • Familiarity with the food and lifestyle creator landscape — able to identify potential collaborators and partnerships.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to match Rachel’s warm, authentic, and conversational tone.
  • Confident using analytics tools (Instagram Insights, Substack metrics, etc.) to guide strategy and measure engagement.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills — comfortable working remotely, meeting deadlines, and collaborating within a small creative team.
  • A strategic yet hands-on approach — able to move from big-picture thinking to day-to-day community interactions.
  • A resourceful, solutions-focused mindset — able to think creatively within time and budget constraints.
  • Genuine passion for food, creativity, and storytelling.
